Why do I need to provide my CPR number?

Have more questions? Submit a request

The CPR number is used solely as authorization when you need to be automatically enrolled in a utility agreement with one of BoligPortal's partners.

Note: Your CPR number will not be visible to either the landlord or BoligPortal employees - they can only see the first six digits, which represent your birth date.

Only the specific utility company will be able to see your full CPR number in order to enroll you in the agreement.

When might you be asked to provide your CPR number?

On BoligPortal's platform, you may be asked for your CPR number only when signing up with one of the utility companies BoligPortal partners with.

You should never provide your CPR number without being sure that the requester has the right to it and will store it correctly.

Here are the situations where you may be asked for your CPR number:

Signing up for electricity through BoligPortal's digital rental contract

Regardless of how you provide your CPR number, it will never be visible in the final rental contract.

When your landlord signs you up for electricity

In BoligPortal's digital rental contract, your landlord can choose one of BoligPortal's partners as your electricity provider.

In this context, there are two methods for providing your CPR number as authorization for the electricity registration:

  1. The landlord can request your CPR number to enter it into BoligPortal's digital rental contract. Below, you can see how it appears for the landlord in the rental contract.

  2. The landlord can leave the CPR number field blank in the rental contract, and you will then be asked to enter your CPR number yourself when you receive the rental contract and electricity authorization for signature

When you choose an electricity agreement yourself

If the landlord specifies in the rental contract that the tenant must arrange their own electricity agreement, you will have the opportunity to sign up for electricity before signing the contract.

After choosing an electricity provider, you will be prompted to enter your CPR number

Only the digits representing your birthdate are visible to the landlord and BoligPortal employees.

Registration for electricity through BoligPortal's move-in report

When the landlord uses BoligPortal's digital move-in report, they can set up automatic registration for electricity.

As a tenant, you need to provide your details, including your CPR number. Note that only you, as the tenant, are allowed to enter these details.

The landlord is not permitted to enter your information on your behalf in the move-in report
