What does subletting mean?

Have more questions? Submit a request

Subletting means that a tenant rents out all or part of their rental home for up to two years.

If you are a property seeker

Rental properties on BoligPortal can be either sublets or regular rentals.

It’s not always indicated in a listing on BoligPortal whether the property is a sublet or a regular rental. However, a sublet will always have a limited rental period of up to two years.

Sublets are rented out by the current tenant of the property, while regular rentals are rented out by the owner. If you’re unsure who owns the property, you can look it up on ois.dk to check the ownership details.

If you want to sublet your rental home

If you, as a tenant, want to sublet all or part of your rental home, you can create a free listing on BoligPortal. This could be, for example, if you need to move temporarily or if you want to share your rental home by subletting one of your rooms.

Be aware that there are specific rules for subletting that you should know before you start looking for a subtenant. Read more about subletting on BoligPortal’s blog (in Danish).
