How does electricity registration work in the rental contract?

When using BoligPortal's digital rental contracts, you can easily register your tenant for an electricity agreement directly in the rental contract.

This provides good service for your tenant and ensures that you, as the landlord, aren't stuck with the bill if your tenant forgets to register.

We guarantee secure data handling in compliance with GDPR regulations.

You simply need to select the desired utility company from the list under the 'Forbrug' tab and 'Tilmeld lejer til el' when creating your rental contract.

We will then automatically obtain a power of attorney when the tenant signs the contract and ensure that the electricity agreement takes effect when the tenant takes over the rental property.

The tenant is not bound by the agreement and can always change utility companies if they later wish to switch electricity providers.

How to Register Your Tenant for an Electricity Agreement via BoligPortal

Note: Digital rental contracts on BoligPortal are exclusively offered in Danish, which is why images and some words in this guide appear in Danish.

    1. Go to the 'Forbrug' tab in the lease contract builder and scroll down to the section 'Tilmeld lejer til el'

    2. Choose the option 'Mellem lejer og forsyningsselskab'

    3. Select the utility company from the list that will provide electricity to the rental property

You can read more about the specific benefits and terms of each provider by clicking on 'Læs mere' next to each utility company.

    4. Complete the rest of the rental contract

      Important note on CPR authorization:
It is essential for the tenant to provide their CPR number when you use the automatic registration for an electricity agreement in the rental contract, as this serves as authorization for the agreement.

However, it is entirely optional whether you, as the landlord, fill in the information under the 'Lejer' tab in the rental agreement builder, or leave the field empty and let the tenant input it themselves. If you leave the tenant's CPR number field empty, the tenant will be asked to fill it in when they sign the rental agreement.

Note: The tenant's CPR number is only visible to the utility company and will not appear in the final rental agreement.

    5. Complete the creation of the rental agreement by clicking on 'Send til underskrift'

Once the rental agreement is signed by all parties and the tenant has provided their CPR number (if you have not entered it yourself), an authorization will automatically be sent to the chosen utility company.

The electricity agreement will then be automatically created on behalf of the tenant and will take effect on the takeover date specified in the rental agreement.

Note: If you allow the tenant to enter their CPR number when signing the rental agreement, all tenants must sign before you, as the landlord, can sign. If there are multiple tenants on the rental agreement, only the first tenant needs to enter their CPR number.
