If you experience the message "Ung under 18" (Young under 18) during the digital signature of the rental contract, it means that the tenant's MitID was issued when they were under 18 years old.
This does not necessarily mean that the person is still under 18.
MitID certificates are typically valid for 3 years. For example, if someone receives a MitID at the age of 17, their certificate will be marked as "Young under 18."
If the certificate remains valid when the person turns 18, the "Young under 18" label will still appear, even though it is no longer accurate.
As long as the tenant is over 18 years old when the rental contract is signed, the "Young under 18" label has no impact on the contract according to contract law.
However, it may be a good idea to obtain additional documentation to verify the tenant's age.
Note: Digital rental contracts on BoligPortal are exclusively offered in Danish, which is why some words in this guide appear in Danish.
