When your tenant has terminated the lease and wishes to move out of your rental, you need to remember to stop the rent collection if you are using BoligPortal for rent management – regardless of whether you reconcile the rent manually via bank transfer or use Betalingsservice.
You can always get an overview of your rent collections and delete charges from your tenants under 'Rent Collection' on your profile.
Note: Remember to check whether your tenant paid prepaid rent upon move-in so you can enter the correct end date for the final rent collection.
How to stop rent collection when your tenant moves out
- Go to the 'Tenancies' section on your profile and click on the relevant tenant who is moving out of the rental
- Click 'Go to rent →' in the overview to access the tenant's rent collection setup
- Click 'Stop collection of rent' under the rent settings
- Enter the last date the tenant should be charged rent and click 'Stop collection of rent'
It’s important to consider any prepaid rent – meaning rent already paid by the tenant, which affects the final date of rent collection.
Example: Your tenant has a 3-month notice period, terminates the lease 3 months before moving out, and paid 3 months of prepaid rent upon move-in: In this case, you select 'As of today' as the last payment date.
That way, the tenant will not be charged for the following 3 months, as the prepaid rent covers the rent costs.
Once the rent collection is stopped, you will see a red information box with a message stating that the rent collection has been stopped, including the final payment date.
In the payment overview, any payments scheduled after the end date will also automatically be removed.
You can restart the rent collection at any time if the termination is cancelled or the tenant postpones the move-out date. Simply click 'Start rent again'.
