When your tenant has given notice and wishes to vacate the rental property, there are many things you as a landlord need to do and be aware of – including stopping the rent collection.

If your tenant has paid prepaid rent, it is important that you have a correct overview of it when determining the date from which your rent collection should be stopped.

How to stop rent collection when your tenant moves out

  1. Find the relevant tenant under 'Tenancies' and go to the 'Rent' tab.

  2. Click 'Stop collection of rent'.

  3. Specify the date for the last rent collection.
Remember to account for the tenant’s prepaid rent.
Example: Your tenant has a 3-month notice period, terminates the lease 3 months before moving out, and has paid 3 months of prepaid rent upon moving in. In this case, you select 'As of today' as the last payment date. This way, the tenant will not be charged for the following 3 months, as the prepaid rent will cover the rent costs.

  4. Finish by clicking 'Stop collection of rent'

In the payment overview, payments later than the final date will also be automatically removed.

You can restart the rent collection at any time if the termination is canceled or the tenant postpones the move-out date.
