When you rent out your property on BoligPortal, you are obligated to comply with applicable laws regarding discrimination based on gender, religion, sexuality, ethnicity, and nationality – both in general communication with interested housing seekers and when you choose or refuse a specific tenant.
You must not exhibit discriminatory behavior or, for example, refuse a person because they have a different religion or sexuality than you.
It is also not permitted to include requirements for a specific gender, religion, sexuality, ethnicity, or nationality in your advertisement text when you create a housing ad on BoligPortal.
Violation of this may result in immediate closure of your ad and profile on BoligPortal.
You may search for a specific gender when renting out rooms in your private home
The rules for renting out rooms in one's private home are different from the rules for renting independent leases.
When you rent out a room in your private home, it is considered shared housing. This means that as a landlord, you have greater freedom to choose a tenant of a specific gender – for example, if you feel most comfortable living only with people of the same gender as yourself.
This is because the landlord will also be living in the property and therefore has the right to choose a tenant they feel safe and comfortable sharing the home with.
Note: Regardless of the situation, it is still not permitted to refuse tenants based on their ethnicity, as this is still discrimination and illegal in the rental housing market.
